Offering - Offering Part III / Part IV (1990)

The second album from this Magma side project. A project which contains most of Magma.

Offering was meant as a John Coltrane jazzy outlet for Christian Vander and Magma. The music here is not zeuhl and not what Magma stands for. Hence this name and project. A right decision in my opinion.

Christian Vander is on both vocals and drums. Stella Vander does the female vocals. Both of  them duels at large parts of this album. Besides of drums and vocals, we also get flutes, piano, organs, bass and percussions.

The music is indeed a mix of Christian Vander's big hero John Coltrane and his daytime job; Magma. The music is jazzy as in Christian Vander's world. The music also has this repetition based zeuhl running through it too. Magma fans will rejoice here.

This album is fifty-one minutes long and the forty-four minutes long composition Another Day is taking a lot of the space here. A pretty zeuhl like jazz composition.

This composition and the two other short composition is pretty narrow and single minded in it's form. There is not much variation from the main theme. There is hardly any deviation from the main riff.

This is though a good album all fans of Magma should check out. I much prefer Magma. Nevertheless; check out this album.
