Sintonia Distorta - Frammenti d`Incanto (2015)

The debut album from this Italian band.

This album has been released through Lizard Records, a highly respected record label from Italy who always release highly respectable Italian progressive and avant-garde rock albums.

...... That is why I am a bit baffled by this album. A seventy minutes long album released by a band I know next to nothing about. And the music is not prog or avant-garde.

This is very much a heavy metal album in the good old 1970s style. No, not as in Black Sabbath, It is more in the Rainbow and Medina Azahara vein.

Yes, the music is pretty intelligent throughout and it has a lot of quality. This is by no means cheap brain-dead head-banging heavy metal. The vocals are in Italian and they are very good. The vocals are backed up by guitars, keyboards, bass and drums. The lineup is pretty good in other words.

And this album very much works out as intended. It has some fast, mid-paced and even some pretty slow songs. Slow songs, but not ballads as every heavy metal bands came up with back in the 1980s. This band is not that cheap & nasty.

The end result is a good album which I have started to become fond off. Check it out.
