Arlon - Mimetic Desires (2015)

The second album from this Polish band.

I did not like their 2013 debut album On The Edge at all. Dull, lifeless neo-prog if I remember rightly. So I was not exactly dancing on the roof tops when confronted with the follow up.

The band is a five piece band with a lineup of keyboards, bass, drums, guitars and vocals. English vocals as most Polish bands use. A local symphony orchestra is also helping out too.

And we are again in neo-prog land. But with a twist.....

Take a large chunk of symphonic prog and add a symphony orchestra. No, no... It is not toothless symph-meets-classical music. Far from it..... The music is unmistaken neo-prog, but with added textures and colours.

The music has a warm feel too. The sound is excellent and adds a lot to this album. An almost one hour long album. Thankfully, the band has not overly extended themselves and their talents. There is no dead meat here.

The end result is a very good album, indeed. One album I really like. There is no really great or superb song here. But there is enough quality here to make this album a very good company. Check it out !
