The debut album from this Swedish band.
In Our Nature is the first of so far, as of August 2015, two albums from this band. A band who originated from the band Violent Silence. I am pretty sure I reviewed their only (?) album so far some years ago. Well, it was their 3 album I reviewed and that was their 2013 album. So both bands are still alive. Good !!
Hidden Lands are a five piece band with a lineup of keyboards, guitars, bass, drums and vocals.
Violent Silence and Hidden Lands is not very different from each other, music wise. Hidden Lands are very much in the symphonic prog tradition on this forty-five minutes long album. They have also added on the neo-prog sound. Modern symphonic prog is the correct label ? Maybe, maybe not.
What also strikes me is the melancholic landscape and songs on this album. There is not much light in this Swedish landscape. Or soundscape to be more correct. Again, the movies of Ingmar Bergman springs to mind. There is a lot of gloom here and that makes this album a heck more interesting.
The end result is no great songs. But this is still a very good album which should be a must-buy for anyone into Swedish prog rock. In particular; Swedish melancholic prog. Those who like Anglagard should also get this album as a matter of urgency.
As I said; this is as very good album and I will also get their second album.
