Far Meadow. The - Where Joys Abound (2012)

A new British rock combo with their debut album.

Their music has been labeled as neo prog. It seems like that is a label being put on everything the labelers cannot really figure out these days. I am pretty sure atoms, mysterious diseases and the meaning of life is being labeled as neo prog these days too. This band's music is not easy to figure out either. I will do my best....

Where Joys Abound is one hour with a mix of classical rock, symph prog, neo prog and art rock. The music is being performed with plenty of keyboards, guitars, bass, drums and vocals.

The sound and music is pretty big and dramatic. Pretty operatic too. Very operatic, in fact. This album is sailing close to rock opera territory. I fear that may be their next step. The problems with Where Joys Abound is the lack of any real good tracks. It is meandering around without really making any impressions. I am missing the art of good songwriting here. The good melodies. That is my problem with this album with this funny art work. There is not enough sheep in prog rock. Where Joys Abound rectifies this and only this. This is a decent album and nothing more than that. Better luck next time.
