Sailing. The - Anniversary of Spears (2015)

The debut album from this US band. An album released as a name your price album on Bandcamp.

The Sailing is a four piece band with keyboards, guitars, bass, drums and vocals. And yes, we are sort of in neo-prog land. Or perhaps not.

Most of all; we are in the US of A. That is where everything is big and brash. Ditto for this album. An album with a big and brash wall of sound throughout. I almost suspect they have sprung Phil Spector from the jail and got him to produce this album.

There is layers upon layers of guitars and keyboards here. The music is at times very symphonic. But most of all, it is as pomp as you can get it. It is Muse and US symphonic prog bands merged into one entity.

The result is a pretty heavy album. It is touches into prog metal territory too. The heaviness comes from the wall of sound though.

There is no real great songs on this one hour long album. It is still a good album though and I am pretty sure we will hear a lot more from this band in the future. Get this album and make up your own mind.
