Lingalad - La Locanda del Vento (2010)

The fifth album from this Italian band who has been operating well below the radar I as a proghead use in my search for new music. They are not listed in ProgArchives.

The reason is perhaps that Lingalad is not regarded as a prog rock band. Which is an oversight in my opinion. On this album, the mix of folk rock, their main genre, and Italian prog rock is pretty obvious. Their music is mainly delivered with acoustic instruments and the band has a very lush folk rock sound, complete with some great Italian vocals.

The band sometimes sounds like Angelo Branduardi. But they also dishes up some very lively, pretty hard rocking songs too on this one hour long album. The music is also pretty contemporary rock at times. Prog rock, most would say.

What is missing is a killer track or two. Despite of that, this album is a great album and one of the better post millennium folk rock albums I have ever heard. I find it a highly enjoyable album and one to cherish.
