Quaterna Requiem - O Arquiteto (2012)

The fourth album from this Brazil based band.

We are deep into symphonic prog again. Instrumental symphonic prog with violins, bass, keyboards, drums and guitars. There is no vocals here at all.

The violin are the first element of this band I notice. Jean Luc Ponty is the master of violins. He does not play on this record though and the band use the violin in a less technical capacity than he and Mahavishnu Orchestra used it. The music is rather leaning towards classical music and folk rock than fusion and jazz.

The keyboards and guitars are also pretty much present here. But the violin is the dominating instrument on this album. That sets it apart from most albums I have heard lately and most albums released during the last years.

Most things are right here. That is; the band has missed the trick of writing great tracks. There is none here. The album is ticking nicely over at seventy five minutes and is offering good value for money. Great value if this is your kind of music. Check it out if it is. If not; well, still check it out.
