The second and final album from this Italian symphonic prog band.
Ezra Winston does not play symph prog in the Italian vein. They have looked towards England and USA instead of looking at Italy and bands like Banco and PFM. The vocals are also in English and the sound is also very much born in USA.
The music is performed with keyboards, guitars, bass and drums. The sound has a pretty big neo prog influence with some ELP like keyboards added onto the sound. Symph prog sounds just about right here.
The sound is pretty much the 1980s one and the music is only sporadic good. Very sporadic, in fact. The few good things here sounds very generic too. The guitars sounds out of tune too. The guitar sound is very poor, in other words. The songs is also not good enough and totally lacks any substance.
Ancient Afternoons is a decent symph prog album which is well worth avoiding.
