The third album from this Magma splinter group.
Zao is basically Yochko Seffer's band if I am not much mistaken. The music is a much more jazzy and funky version of what Magma did on their albums. There is still a lot of zeuhl traces here. But most of it is funky jazz with a lot of woodwinds and bass. Violin and cello can also be found here in abundance.
The result is a pretty funky forty minutes long album which is good fun when it lasts, but never really impresses me. The Soft Machine like first two songs are the best ones here and I also likes it when they turns their attention towards zeuhl at the final song Bakus. The rest of the album is good too. Good fun, that is.
